BUILDING A GLOBAL INTERNET OF THINGS NETWORK TOGETHER
The Things Network (TTN) is a global movement with the mission to build
a decentralized, open, and crowdsourced Internet of Things data network
owned and operated by its users.
Building one’s own independent network, rather than having to pay an
operator for IoT connectivity, provides interesting opportunities and
new models for communities, education and small and medium companies alike.

The Things Network is based on LoRaWan – an open LPWAN (low power
wide area network) standard which builds on the proprietary radio
protocol LoRa.
This hackathon and workshop is the first meeting of the emerging TTN
community in Copenhagen and Denmark.
It is for those who would like to gain hands-on experience with LoRaWan
and The Things Network – learn how to build and test gateways and sensor
nodes.
However, there will also be plenty of room for those who primarily want
to learn about approaches to IoT networking, applications, use-cases,
and the various possibilities around The Things Network and its
alternatives such as Sigfox, NB-IoT, and so forth.
Workshops and talks will include:
– Gateways and sensor nodes
– IoT and TTN for education – in primary and secondary schools, and in
communities
– A presentation of the Alexandra Institute’s Organicity project
– IoT and TTN for urban gardens, agriculture, aquaponics
– Room for participant contributions and BOF sessions

If you would like to build and take home your own gateway,from a
Raspberry PI and an iC880a radio concentrator, and you would like us to
buy the components for you, please mark the checkbox below and you will
be charged a maximum cost of DKK 1700 (possibly lower, based on number
of participants).
