BUILDING A GLOBAL INTERNET OF THINGS NETWORK TOGETHER<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe Things Network (TTN) is a global movement with the mission to build
\na decentralized, open, and crowdsourced Internet of Things data network
\nowned and operated by its users.
\nBuilding one\u2019s own independent network, rather than having to pay an
\noperator for IoT connectivity, provides interesting opportunities and
\nnew models for communities, education and small and medium companies alike. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nnew models for communities, education and small and medium companies alike.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Things Network is based on LoRaWan – an open LPWAN (low power
\nwide area network) standard which builds on the proprietary radio
\nprotocol LoRa.<\/p>\n

This hackathon and workshop is the first meeting of the emerging TTN
\ncommunity in Copenhagen and Denmark.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is for those who would like to gain hands-on experience with LoRaWan
\nand The Things Network \u2013 learn how to build and test gateways and sensor
\nnodes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, there will also be plenty of room for those who primarily want
\nto learn about approaches to IoT networking, applications, use-cases,
\nand the various possibilities around The Things Network and its
\nalternatives such as Sigfox, NB-IoT, and so forth. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Workshops and talks will include:<\/strong>
\n– Gateways and sensor nodes
\n– IoT and TTN for education – in primary and secondary schools, and in
\ncommunities
\n– A presentation of the Alexandra Institute’s Organicity project
\n– IoT and TTN for urban gardens, agriculture, aquaponics
\n– Room for participant contributions and BOF sessions<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nIf you would like to build and take home your own gateway,from a
\nRaspberry PI and an iC880a radio concentrator, and you would like us to
\nbuy the components for you, please mark the checkbox below and you will
\nbe charged a maximum cost of DKK 1700 (possibly lower, based on number
\nof participants).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
