However in the last decade we witness a shift; there is a growing interest in exploring spin-off tissue engineering and regenerative biology technologies for other ends, such as consumer products, art and design.\u00a0 This talk will outline these developments in areas such as in vitro meat and leather, actuators and bio machine interfaces, and contemporary artistic practices.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: black\">I would draw on the extensive experience of using tissue engineering for non-medical ends to illustrate and culturally explore these developments. Avoiding utopian and dystopian postures, this talk will highlight some philosophical and ethical consideration stemming from new technological approaches to life.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: black\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: black\"><b><span id=\"0.5792191089999387\" class=\"highlight\">Ionat<\/span> <span id=\"0.8719987686504433\" class=\"highlight\">Zurr<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: black;font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\">Dr. <span id=\"0.9475655026712793\" class=\"highlight\">Ionat<\/span> <span id=\"0.759829041131718\" class=\"highlight\">Zurr<\/span> is an artist and a researcher at SymbioticA, School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology, The University of Western Australia.
