Steffen Dalsgaard<\/a> and Hasib Ahsan<\/a> have had their paper, \u201cEntanglements of Sustainability in Dhaka: The Complications of Deploying Technological Solutions to Capitalist Problems,\u201d published in Kulturanthropologie Notizen. The paper is written based on ethnographic fieldwork that Steffen and Hasib conducted in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2023. <\/span><\/p>\n

“We argue that technological solutions are never simply technical. They are entangled with social inequalities, labour, government policies, economic interests and global capitalism. A technology introduced to address one sustainability challenge can sometimes create new problems or make existing ones more complicated,” Hasib writes. The research was supported by the DecouplingIT<\/span><\/span> project<\/a> based at the IT University of<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> Copenhagen<\/a><\/span><\/span> and funded by the European Research Council (ERC).<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
