Subprojects
South Africa
Our fieldwork in South Africa explores digitalisation in the fresh fruit industry and the role and possibilities of digital agricultural technologies in promoting sustainable practices in the agri-food system.

Brazil
Our fieldwork delves into the use of technologies for decoupling economic growth from the destruction of the Brazilian Amazon. We look into the entanglement between technologies and complex political-economical realities; we consider technoscientific ideologies framing visions of the Amazon forest and some of tech-fixes to protect it; and, finally, we aim to understand what would a successful technological solution in that biome would look like.
Iceland
Our fieldwork in Iceland delves into the development of data centers in the country, its technopolitics, connections with energy infrastructures, sustainability practices and future imaginaries for digital technologies in the climate emergency.

Bangladesh
Our fieldwork in Bangladesh investigates the lives of climate-displaced communities in the northern riverine islands, where recurrent flooding, disaster-driven mobility and minimal state infrastructure and services shape everyday practices in agriculture, healthcare, electricity and early warning access. Alongside this, we analyse the government’s Smart Bangladesh vision centred on high-tech infrastructural transformation, exploring how these national IT ambitions intersect with or fail to reach marginalised and climate-vulnerable populations.
China
Our fieldwork in China explores issues of governance and sustainable development through the lens of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation, with a particular focus on the role of data.
