Felipe Silva Figueiredo has co-authored a chapter in the new book: From the common good to the financialization – hydropowerplants, energy markets and social struggle.
“This collection aims to discuss the theme of financialization based on recent transformations in the electricity production and commercialization sectors in Brazil, highlighting their growing connection with the financial sector. (…) Furthermore, the contributions emphasize the strategies of Indigenous communities to confront and resist the effects of hydroelectric dams on their territories and ways of life.”
“In the chapter I co-author with Jean Carlos Hochsprung Miguel, we approach the Brazilian transmission system and energy planning from the perspective of the Anthropology of Infrastructures. We propose an analysis of the sociotechnical processes through which water resources inform electricity market decisions and are converted into technoeconomic artifacts. Part of the research informing this chapter stems from my master’s thesis at the Federal University of São Paulo.” – Felipe Figueiredo
