Steffen is associate professor in the Technologies in Practice research group and Head of Programme for the B.Sc. in Global Business Informatics. He holds a PhD in Anthropology and Ethnography from Aarhus University. Since 2002, he has conducted research in the province of Manus, Papua New Guinea, specialising in state and political leadership in the context of tradition and government elections. He is currently focusing on two projects: democracy and voting technologies in Denmark as part of the DemTech project, and the introduction of carbon as a form of global moral and economic value, which engenders new imaginaries of the relationship between society and environment.
