Visiting PhD student
Nils is a Doctoral Candidate of Arts at the Aalto University Department of Design in Finland. Prior to the Doctoral studies Nils holds a Master’s Degree in Interaction Design from Malmö University where he also worked as a research assistant working with smart learning environments and multi-modal learning. Nils has also worked with smart furniture at the Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute.
In his Doctoral work Nils explores themes related to justice and ethics in the design of technology for the so-called smart home. When researching the smart home Nils has explored it from a perspective of disciplinary technologies and how they re-shape the lives and social relations of the residents both in private homes and co-living spaces.
Nils is currently a guest researcher at ITU as part of the CAPE project, which explores civic agency and digitalization in a library context.
